DEPUTY DIRECTOR ODL
Qualification
A Master’s (MS/ MPhil) degree in any discipline, preferably in a field relevant to online education, from an HEC recognized institution.
Experience
- At least 5 years of post-MS/ MPhil professional experience in online education at an HEC recognised institution.
- Preference will be given to candidates with hands-on experience in online curriculum design, instructional design, content development, and lecture recording.
Desired Skills
- Comprehensive understanding of accreditation standards and regulatory frameworks for university-level online education programmes.
- Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Blackboard, and Canvas, and proficiency with digital tools like video conferencing platforms, online assessment systems, and multimedia content creation tools.
- Familiarity with contemporary online teaching methodologies, including active learning techniques, student engagement strategies, and innovative assessment approaches.
- Knowledge of best practices in contemporary online pedagogies, including active learning strategies, communication skills to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Job Description
The Deputy Director ODL will work under the supervision of the Director ODL and will be responsible for the following:
- Lead the formulation and implementation of online education programmes, ensuring adherence to the university’s policies and standards as well as regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Scrutinize the proposals for the online programmes offered by the University for conformance with the requirements for the ACM approval for their implementation/ offering at suitable locations.
- Oversee the development of high-quality instructional content and coordinate the recording of lectures in collaboration with academic departments and external vendors, as required.
- Supervise the delivery of online programmes to ensure they meet the prescribed standards and align with institutional objectives.
- Act as a liaison between the ODL Management Office (OMO), other Directorates of BU Head Office, and the academic departments across the Campuses to streamline ODL operations and ensure cohesive execution of related tasks.
- Foster a supportive and productive work environment within the OMO, encouraging collaboration and professional growth among the team members.
- Take on any additional assignments or responsibilities delegated by the Director ODL to meet organisational goals.
